Our goal is to collect 1,000 ovens for an entire camp and a solar oven only costs $30.

Why solar cookers? Darfur has been ravaged by drought and women have to travel on foot to collect wood for their cooking fires. They have to go further and further from their camps as wood is scarce. When they do this, the girls and women are more exposed and targeted by the Janjaweed for violence. The use of solar ovens allows them to remain "safe" in their camps.
